About: While attached to Shillington College of Design I was tasked with conceptualising the design of Colour Chords, a Music & Arts festival. The project encompassed the entire brand lifecycle to develop the festival’s identity, from naming to collateral and website design.
Brief: To bring the festival to life I was inspired by Russian painter and art theorist, Kandinsky. He is credited with painting one of the first recognised purely abstract works. Kandinsky had synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second, which gave him an ability to see and hear colours. This concept resonated well with the event as a sensory celebration.
